About

ADERET is a New York City-based singer-songwriter drawing inspiration from the storytelling traditions of blues and early rock, as well as the narrative sensibilities of French cinema.
Her songwriting is rooted in lived experience, shaped by the people she encounters, the places she moves through, and the world unfolding around her. Approaching her writing through a journalistic lens, she is drawn to the details, contradictions, and complexities of everyday life.
Inspired by the ambiguity and nuance often found in French film, Aderet prefers to write in the gray areas — where perspectives shift, truths coexist, and things are rarely as simple as they seem. Her lyrics blend the spirit of a journal with the sensibility of poetry, transforming personal observations into stories that speak to something universal.
I wake up each morning with a desire to quench my thirsts
Water won’t suffice though
I long for the pure excitement
Of discovering, uncovering the unknown…many people wish to go back
I was once one of them
To walk the streets of Paris and pass Hemingway having his afternoon glass of wine at cafe de flour
To land in Southern California and be greeted by the sound of Joni Mitchell’s guitar
I have come to realize that there is beauty in living in the now. That we are in the present creating our own kind of beat and a wild flow of rhythm
I have learnt to follow the wind
Giving her the grace to fly me wherever she may desire
My trust in her and her grace with me has left me with a suitcase of stories
Memories, sentes, visions, dreams…some belonging to myself, many belonging to others,
It is this suitcase that I carry with me everywhere, when I travel, when I play , when I listen, when I find a place I wish to stay…
I have become a part of the new age, not the one that happened in the 60s but the one that is happening as we speak. You see most people don’t know about it, but that’s the thing, influential figures and time periods are only named after the fact…
I watch my friends perform their poetry in galleries belonging to my other friends whose other friends painting’s hang on the wall.
In the corner another friend is capturing this moment with his film camera. One day people will look at his photos in awe, today we are just living the moment. I take it all in, the passion, the drive, the thirst, the hunger, each one of us has a desire to live our truth. A desire so strong that in a world full of strangers it has brought us together.
Standing, dim lights in a pre war building east of Le Marais.
I fasten my guitar strap
Take one last breath in
I hear my name
It is my turn to breath into the moment
